Evangelism and Outreach Programs:

Mission Trip to Liberia

During our coffee fellowship on February,7th, 2010, Mr. Gordon Tiner gave an audio-visual presentation of his most recent mission trip to Liberia.  It was an enlightening experience, and made us thankful to God for all the comforts we enjoy here.  A transcript of his trip and a message is available here.

We hope to have future presentations during our monthly coffee fellowship time.  Please make it a point to stay and enjoy the company of fellow Christians.

We will be supporting several outreach programs, and look for support from parishioners, as well as others who may feel inclined to support these causes.

Sponsor a Child

We are now sponsoring a needy child, by the name of Moises, who lives in Equador. He just celebrated his birthday in May, and a special birthday package was sent to him from the church. Mrs. Gayle Cimino will be the church correspondent and will be writing to him, to let him know who we are, and also fill us in on how he is doing. A sign up sheet is provided on the back table of the church, and you can sign up for one month or several.  The cost to support him is written on the sign up sheet.  If you choose to sponsor him for a month, you can write out a separate check, and place it with your Sunday offering on the first Sunday of the month.

The Whosoever Gospel Mission

The Whosoever Gospel Mission works in Pennsylvania, to provide help to the needy in the form of inexpensive clothing, shelter, and food. You can click here to access their web page: www.whosoevergospel.org.

To that end, one of our members collects items such as gently used clothes, small working appliances, etc.  We would like our church to more actively support this cause, and so will be calling for donations. The details of what are acceptable items are (this is from their web page):

"We accept the following gently used items in good condition for drop off at the Lighthouse Thrift Shop between 9:45 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Saturday: Men's, Women's and Children's Clothing, Shoes & Accessories House wares, Linens, Bric-a-brac, Jewelry, Toys & Kid's Books CDs, DVDs, Records, VHS and Cassette Tapes. Please note, we are not able to accept the following items as drop offs at our Lighthouse Thrift Shop: computers, computer parts & accessories, books other than children's books, major appliances,* TVs* or any furniture."

If you are interested in donating, please contact us at the church, and you can drop them off.  We will make the delivery to the Lighthouse Thrift Shop.
